The Faulkner County Historical Society held its annual meeting for members and a public program on March 8 at the county library.
New officers were elected at the brief business meeting: Rebekah Bilderback, President; Julie Hill, Vice President; and Judy Corcoran, Secretary Treasurer.
Despite a heavy rain storm, attendees enjoyed a delightful program performed by David and Donna Peterson of Greenbrier. David also informed the group about the history of dance in America during various periods from clogging, polka, waltz, ragtime, and square, to Cajun. He and Donna performed each dance. At various times they were accompanied on the lap dulcimer and hammered dulcimer by Steve Lance and his son Harry. The Lances also performed a duet for the audience on the two dulcimers.
Following the program, refreshments with a St. Patrick’s Day theme were served with green sherbet punch and shamrock cookies.
The spring issue of the Faulkner Facts and Fiddlings will be out sometime in April. Subjects of the articles will be announced in the next few weeks.
