In the early days of medicine, drugs were often dispensed by country doctors who made house calls. The doctor usually had two bags, one for his tools and one for the variety of remedies he would prescribe. As towns grew, doctors opened up offices with drug stores usually established somewhere nearby.

Paint The Rails on May 3

Workin’ Bridges is seeking donations of $50 and $450 to paint the safety rails on the soon-to-be-restored Springfield-Des Arc bridge that will be located in Beaverfork Park.

A “bridge update” is set for Wednesday, May 3, at 4pm at the Kings Event Center on Front Street. All donations are tax-deductible; the non-profit organization works across the country saving these old bridges.
