The work of Arkansas author Nancy Dane was highlighted when the Arkansas Center for the Book (State Library) chose her historical children’s book, William’s Story to feature at the 2016 National Book Festival in Washington D.C. in September. Each year the Arkansas Center for the Book creates a poster (Arkansas Gems) to be taken to the National Book Festival; the 2016 poster included William’s Story. Director Zoe Butler said the historical book was “very popular” with the children.

Museum Spotlights Antique Friendship Quilts
Beginning this week the Faulkner County Museum presents an ongoing display of antique friendship quilts at the Faulkner County Library. The museum’s textile collection contains quilts from three centuries, and this display contains a few of those from the 1930’s and 1940’s.

Cemetery Workshops In October
Moscow Cemetery (Prescott, Nevada County) holds a conservation workshop, Saturday, October 8, 9:00 AM to 4:00. Sponsored by the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, this event will focus on some of the common concerns about preservation and maintenance of cemeteries so that the stories of these communities can go on.
