Governor Asa Hutchinson officially proclaimed October as Archives Month in Arkansas. The Arkansas State Archives will celebrate with activities across the state focusing on various events and personalities important to our state’s history.

National Archives Month is held each October to raise public awareness of the value of archives and records to our society. During October the Arkansas State Archives are holding three genealogy-focused half-day workshops, one at each location.

Travel by lantern light to the annual “Spirits of the Cadron” to hear first-hand ghost tales told by guides portraying historical characters at the Historic Haunted Cadron Settlement Park, 6200 Hwy. 319, Conway, on Saturday, October 13 from 6-8:45 p.m.

This past weekend, our road trip included a stop at Quitman Fest. It was while we were driving through this small town on Highway 25, which straddles both Faulkner and Cleburne counties, that we turned onto College Street, a street that runs north and south from the downtown area.
