On April 21, police investigated over $290,000 worth of damage found at the 173-year-old Mount Holly Cemetery in downtown Little Rock.

Arkansas historical author Nancy Dane’s novel Sarah Campbell, Tale of a Civil War Orphan, won the 2016 DeBlack Award giving for Arkansas’ best in historical fiction for children.
The award will be presented at the banquet at the Arkansas Historical Association‘s 75th Annual Conference on April 21-23 in Little Rock.

Seventh grade Pre AP literacy classes under teacher Linda Knapp at Vilonia Middle School launched the One Cent-One Life penny drive.
At a media presentation, last week, students Katelynn Bell and Emma Duncan, representing the class, said “it’s not just a penny drive” but one to bring awareness to the Holocaust. Each penny will stand for a real life lost,” one student said. Continue reading
Governor Asa Hutchinson’s office announced last week the Governor’s intention to switch the Arkansas History Commission out from under the Arkansas Parks and Tourism Department to the Department of Arkansas Heritage.
